Installation β€’ Re: Help needed: Can't re-install gnome?

news.woodpeckersnest.space / forums-debian-net:0 β€’ 7 April

The aptitude interface is great for sorting out this type of thing too.
'aptitude why|why-not <package>' can also be helpful.
Aptitude would need installing if you haven't already.

Graphical Environments & Desktops β€’ Re: Debian 12 Xfce - new installation - thunar file manager preferences not usable

news.woodpeckersnest.space / forums-debian-net:0 β€’ 7 April

@ilu

All I see in the two notebooks I mentioned here and on my desktop machine I am writing on at the moment in /etc/skel/.config/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel-xml/thunar.xml are those 5 files. No '.conf' sub folder.

Screenshot_2025-04-07_21-01-40.jpg

But a look in ~$ /.config/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel-xml/ seems more promising. The thunar.xml file from TP450s

and from the fresh installed akoya laptop

Made a short test and replaced the content of the 'akoya' file with that of the T450s and rebooted, but the preference windows still to large ....

Hello,
Yes, I am using the Debian sid package in testing, it works fine.
Thanks for the feedback.

It seems you sorted it out. :)

Maybe you can mark the discussion as "solved" manually adding the text tag "[Solved]" at the beginning of the subject of the first message (after other tags).

Happy Debian ! :)

Hello,
For anyone following this thread, the most recent Debian version in unstable (1:10.0.0~rc2+ds-1) has fixed this issue. I'm not sure if the Debian patch has been applied to the upstream source, but in Debian unstable, this is fixed. I've been running it for a few days without problems.
Thanks for reporting back.

The Debian bug report has been closed, indeed:This is the upstream bug report:Are you using the current Debian Sid version in Debian Testing ?
