System and Network configuration • Is there a command to know what software is currently either handling or managing the Network of the OS?

      news.woodpeckersnest.space / forums-debian-net:0 • 19 March

    Hello Friends

Is there a command in Debian to know what software is currently either handling or managing the Network of the OS? It mostly for a server environment

For the current moment for purposes to set a static ip for a server environment

But assuming it if is unknown or for some reason it is changed due any of the following reasons:
    • The next release changed the tool (new technology)
    • It was changed manually to other technology for any reason (if it is possible)
Furthermore consider the scenario if the server is an old release and thus it could be working with an old release of the network software manager. Therefore the current technology either could not exist or was not applied yet

    Thank You

ChatGPT is trying to shoot fish in a pond with a popgun. Parroting every command it has ever sucked into its database.
You need to diagnose the problem first, not just try random commands. For starters:

    Code:

    journalctl -b -p3
or try p4 for more possibilities.
To help the forum help you, detailed info is needed. Install inxi (from backports preferably) and post:

    Code:

    inxi -Fxxxz

    MPV will play it too:

    Code:

    mpv https://youtu.be/3IWAIy80frI
Which is expected as Celluloid is an MPV frontend.

I'm not 100% certain but I think MPV uses yt-dlp to download and play YT videos.

Testing And Unstable • [Testing - Trixie] Freezing at login screens

      news.woodpeckersnest.space / forums-debian-net:0 • 19 March • 7 minutes

Since installing Trixe last week, I have experienced the system freezing just after displaying a login screen, either from booting or changing users. It seems to happen about a third of the time.

Here is xsession-errors.old after rebooting from freezing while changing users.

Testing And Unstable • [Testing - Trixie] Audio regressions with XFCE

      news.woodpeckersnest.space / forums-debian-net:0 • 19 March

Having random problems with audio. First installed Trixie XFCE last week and had trouble with Volume Control either not keeping settings or completely losing the audio signal. The settings could be reset, but recovering audio required a reboot.

Updated Trixie the next day and replaced light-locker with xfce4-screensaver to fix locking control. The random loss of audio seemed to be gone.

Updated Trixie a few days later and audio no longer worked. Just a buzzing sound came through. When I played videos in Chrome or Firefox, video would run only if the volume control in the video window was muted.

Updated Chrome directly from Google and audio play came back.

Updated Trixie today and lost audio play in the left channel.

General Questions • Re: [Software] Can Hypnotix be installed on Bookworm ?

      news.woodpeckersnest.space / forums-debian-net:0 • 19 March

MX 23 (based on Bookworm) has packaged it. You could download it from here - https://mxrepo.com/MX23packages.html - and install with:

    Code:

    apt install ./hypnotix_3.2-1~mx23_all.deb
Not tested by me. Check the current package version matches what I wrote above and edit to suit if necessary.

I'm marking this solved because replacing the screensaver solved problems #3 & #4.
